Alienware M11x configuration vs. Dell Studio XPS 7100 configuration, which is better?
I am not the most PC smart person, which customization would be better for? (BTW, I don't want suggestions for other things just answer my question)

I would say the Dell would be the better configuration. AMD processors overclock VERY well (but with a stock speed of 2.8GHz, you may not need to overclock, unless you are into extreme gaming), and you are getting a better video card, a larger HDD, and a decent size 1080p monitor over a MUCH smaller 720p monitor.
