I love Alienware, but the specs your looking at are garbage and in all honesty neither of those systems would be able to play WOW very well. Alienwares are great if you can afford to upgrade them but an i3 for $1,000+ system is pretty sad. For your price range if you buy either of those systems your gonna have one heavy d@mn good looking paperweight. I would say look at a Toshiba-Qosmio, they're much more affordable and have way better specs than what you're packing there. Even an Asus if that floats your boat more. The specs you need to play WOW at a decent FPS are:

processor: i5 - i7-720QM (i7 would be best)
RAM: 4GB of ram, so you have the right idea there
Graphics: ATI's are iffy for me because i've had bad personal experiences with them. You'll need at least an ATI 5850 if you like that brand for some reason. An NVIDIA would need to be a GTS 360m or anything in the GTX series.
HDD: 250GB HDD is fine if you don't wanna upgrade that.

*Don't pay $100 for the 9-cell...it literally only gives you 30mins more battery life at best.*

For your price range you really are getting screwed if your not buying a Toshiba or Asus. Alienwares are amazing, but the specs you have there are outdated by several years. Links are below:

Toshiba is more of a Multi-Media computer that can do pretty good with some HD gaming, so it sounds like the best fit for you. Asus is for extreme gamers that just couldn't afford an Alienware. Sad, but true. It's like having a suped up Toyota compared to a Stock Mercedes. Sure the toyota may be just as good, but its no mercedes. At Any rate, Toshiba will do a wider variety of things for the same price for you, plus it has a blu-ray player.

Asus is a great HD Gaming Computer, don't get me wrong. If you're really into HD gaming for your price range an Asus really would be best. If you're only playing WOW or GW or Aion or whatever mmorpg floats your boat an Asus would be overkill. An alienware would be overkill too, but not at the specs you listed. Any who here's an Asus:
