I really want it to have:

If you did find something the rest of the bits around the i7 would be cheap junk.

Cache memory is a very significant part of a computer system that is utilized to store instructions that are constantly utilized by the Central Processing Unit of the computer. Including big cache into the system is not advisable as it is very expensive. For faster CPUs bigger cache is required. Typically, there is 64kb of cache in a system. If you consider the high end CPU like Intel Corei7 has 8MB cache. For this reason, these processors are so expensive.
Intel Atom CPUs are the budget version of Intel chip. Operating speed of these processors is same as a Pentium4 chip, but the price is very much affordable. The size of the cache in the chip is the main reason for this. Typically, Atom CPUs have just only 512kb while an Intel Pentium 4 CPU has 2MB cache. So, it is obvious that performance of Intel Atom processor will be slower than Intel Pentium 4 or iCore processors.
So, from the discussion it is quite clear that if you are building a gaming computer, you must bring cache under consideration. A processor with higher cache will be the best choice for better performance. You can consider Inter Core i7, Inter Core i5 or Inter Core i3 in these regard. All of them are excellent to enjoy gaming.

When you pick computer with a cheaper processor it will most likely come with low budget motherboard, expensive processors are paired with advanced motherboards. It is done for the whole purpose of the balance between CPU and MB - you don't need SLI or CrossFire with cheap AMD CPU so why spending your money on it? All motherboards differ by the CPU socket type they support, memory configuration and extra features like number of USB ports, integrated GPU (video), SLI or CrossFire support.
AMD Motherboards: AMD 740G- basic board usually MicroATX with standard limited number of features - Phenom II support, 4-8 USB ports, single PCI-e, 100Mbps Ethernet, 2-4 memory slots (4-8Gb RAM), basic sound system with 5ch support. Good for basic computer, integrated Intel video GPU is useless and usually deactivated for discrete videocard. Intel P43/45 - very good designed board with many modern features, up to 16Gb RAM with DDR3 possible, single PCI-e, full LGA775 CPU support, 6-10 USB, Gigabyte Ethernet, fast northbridge and effective overclocking. Intel H55- great board for LGA1156 processors with lots of features available. Onboard video through Intel Core i3/i5 CPU with HDCP support, Intel i3/i5 CPUs supported, 4 memory slots - up to 16Gb RAM, 8-12 USB ports along with FireWire. HD sound with Optical and/or Coax SPDIF, DDR3 and HDMI onboard. Intel P55 - it is an analog of H55 without video ports but full i5/i7 LGA1156 support, CrossFIre available, fullsize board, DDR3, eSATA, optical SPDIF. Intel X58 - most advanced Intel board with all possible features as well as SLI and CrossFire support, 3 channel DDR3 memory, lots of SATA and USB ports, LGA1366 Intel i7 CPU support with future additions to LGA1366 line projected - very good investment in the future of technology.

Core i5 Quad Core can match i7 performance with similar clock speeds and basically same feature set, but will be a cheaper option because they employ P55 motherboards instead of expensive P55. You loose 3 channel RAM for regular dual channel, limited CrossFire (16x + 4x PCI-e vs X58 dual 16x speed), and almost non existent SLI support. Otherwise same features so in most cases it will be on par with i7/X58 combo, but will loose in heavy multithreaded applications with lots of RAM usage and in heavy gaming with multiple videocards used. Still a very good option considering a few hundred dollars saved and less heat from the CPU which is great for overclocks.
Core i3 and i5 Dual Core with Video Core integrated - require H55 motherboards which are not expensive and have nice features and options but mostly no CrossFire or SLI support and only dual channel RAM. Processor itself is much faster than previous generation dual cores but looses greatly to most quad cores in multithreaded applications and gaming. With it's low price they are great for media centers (with Intel integrated GPU core and HDCP support) and budget gaming machines. Also i3 and i5 have very low heat generated and can be overclocked at extreme levels with proper cooling - they don't look so bad at all then.
AMD AM3 processors used in our computers is highly effective and cost efficient. You can choose from the variety of dual, triple and quad core processors for any budget level and you can be sure that you will get adequate performance. AMD has got much better with AM3 CPUs when it comes to features support and heat generation, as well as standard instructions and optimization. High end AMD Quad Core processors can be as effective or even better than i3 and i5 processors for a smaller price. Plus you always have a choice of much cheaper motherboards that bring the total price down significantly. DDR3 memory standard is highly developed on AM3 boards, CrossFire is a standard feature on 790X and many 770 motherboards, although all of them are lacking SLI support but that is offset by great videocards ATI has recently released. And since ATI is owned by AMD you can be sure of the great level of integration achieved through so called platforms like Spider or Fusion. It is a really great combination of price and performance.
CPU Cooler: With some amount of luck and strong determination it is possible to overclock all of the processors to some extent. Most of the time you can overclock CPU at about 10-30% rate (Centaurus Computers gives guaranteed overclock on every PC). That also depends heavily on what CPU Cooler have you selected: with stock one do not expect miracles, but with any upgraded cooler you will see major increase in MHz. Better coolers can better dissipate heat generated from increased load after overclock. Basically, if you want a better processor, you can upgrade it, or you can select better cooler and we will overclock your CPU to the higher level PLUS you will see lower temperatures and hear less noise. EXAMPLE: Intel i7 920 with Xigmatek Dark Knight works on 3.6Ghz easily vs stock 2.66Ghz - load temperature under 60C.
And most important - temperature levels. Stock cooler will do the job but it will be pretty hot and can be noisy. Aftermarket coolers can drop temperatures down significantly and are generally almost silent. Heat is a processor's enemy because it shortens it's lifespan and greatly influences reliability levels.
What about water cooling? Are you ready to check your system for leaks every month? Do think you can drain and fill it up again and clean every year? Most people would say no, but then there are closed circuit water coolers like Corsair Hydro that make things easier for everybody. Basically you don't have to refill it at any point and since it is closed circuit it should have no leaks unless it's damaged. And Corsair Hydro does really good job in cooling - usually within or above temperature levels achieved by most expensive air coolers. That comes at a price though, so we would not recommend it to everyone, but it is available as and option.
RAM Amount depends on what are you planning to do with your computer. Most popular memory today is DDR3, today it has perfect combination of price and performance. Most popular size - 4Gb (or 4096Mb). Basically Windows XP uses about 256Mb for itself, while Windows 7 can take about 1Gb and even more. So you can play with 2Gb memory on Windows XP but you will need at least 4Gb for Windows 7 to feel really comfortable with gaming.
DDR - Double Data Rate , then number 2 or 3 stands for generation. DDR2 800 means that memory works at 800MHz and it's second gen, that is double 400MHz (DDR2= 400x2). When you select DDR3-1600 that means that memory works at 1600Mhz and it's 3rd gen, also it helps a lot while over clocking, since this memory can take more load. This is a great upgrade for those who need more speed.
DDR3 memory with higher frequency will give you an advantage in games and some applications, but only if you have a good processor and video card. Just keep in mind that every computer should be well balanced. For a computer with ATI 5770 and 4Gb RAM it is better to make an upgrade to ATI 5850 than getting 8Gb RAM upgrade - that is if you plan to run games on it. But a general rule of thumb says that more RAM is better, and though 4Gb is enough for most users 6Gb like with i7 and X58 boards standard becomes more and more popular - it works in triple channel and greatly increases data bandwidth.
32bit limitation - with Windows 32bit editions you will see a limitation on your memory size if you have 3Gb or more. For example, if you install 4Gb memory on 32bit machine you will probably see only 3Gb or up to 3.5Gb. Windows 64bit does not have that limitation. BUT Windows 64bit can give you some troubles with old drivers and applications that are not optimized for 64bit processing. Our advice is to choose Windows 64bit if you have all new hardware and do not plan to add anything that is not compatible with it, or Windows 32bit if you have old peripherals to add or old software that needs only 32bit Windows.

Okay I'm a 12 year old kid who is looking for a quality Gaming Laptop for cheap, any sites you can think of? My budget is anywhere between 500-800. I will be earning the money through out the summer and hopefully my parents will pitch in a little bit.

I am looking to buy my nephew a PC for his 12th birthday. My friend has his old pc he wants to sell me for $200. Its complete with a 17" flatscreen CRT monitor, keyboard/laser mouse, 2.1 sound system & a tower with an AMD 2.13GHz THORTON core CPU, 768MB PC2100 RAM, ATI 9600PRO video card, SOUNDBLASTER LIVE sound card, CD-RW, DVD-ROM & a 20GB hard drive with a fresh install of WINXP PRO SP2, ZONEALARM firewall, AVG anti virus, NERO, EVEREST 2.0, WINDOWS REGESTRY CLEANER & a few other programs incuding a GAMPAD & a couple demo games like FEAR, DOOM 3, HALO & SWAT 4. Is this a good rig for a 12 year old? I dont have alot of money & dont think I could build a better PC for $200 complete like it is. Also I know it works fine as its my friends old gaming rig. That really is a good PC for $200. The only thing I would recommend is adding a larger Hard Drive later as a secondary drive and pretty soon a new Video card, since most new games won't play at all on the ATI 9600. The RAM is good for gaming on XP and the CPU is good as well. You should also get a good Antivirus, my suggestion is Trend Micro - won't slow down your system like Norton will, and just as powerful, plus Spysweeper for anti Spyware. Without those 2 programs that computer won't last long. Don't let him use Limewire or any of those free song downloading programs. They are virus superhighways!

A Media PC can be purchased preconfigured with the required hardware and software needed to add television programming to the PC, as is commonly done with Windows Media Center Edition (MCE), or can be custom built out of discrete components.
Media Center PC - What do you need to know.
This isn't any typical PC that you're building. It's going to live in your family room (or wherever you have your TV and spend most of your time). That means, in addition to a PC, it has to look good, and run very quietly.
These are the most important components in your Media Center PC:

Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition
Windows XP Media Center Edition (codename Symphony) is a version of Windows XP designed to serve as a home-entertainment hub. The latest version, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, was released on October 12, 2004.
Windows XP Media Center Edition (XP MCE) is distinguished from other versions of Windows XP by an exclusive preinstalled application, Media Center, which provides a large-font, remotely accessible interface for TV viewing on the computer as well as recording and playback, DVD playback, video playback, photo viewing, and music playback.
Although MCE is based on Windows XP Professional, Microsoft has disabled its ability to join an Active Directory domain post install. This effectively precludes the use of Media Center in a corporate environment. Media Center still retains most other Windows XP Pro-specific features, such as Remote Desktop and the Encrypting File System.
Because of strict hardware requirements, Microsoft has opted not to supply Media Center as an independent retail version. Microsoft only distributes it to MSDN subscribers and OEM System Builders in certain countries. Consumers generally purchase Media Center preinstalled on a new computer, or from a reseller that sells OEM versions of Microsoft software.
Windows XP Media Center Edition (2005) Update Rollup 2 (codenamed 'Emerald') Released in late 2005, this was a collection of feature updates including support for DVD changers and to connect to the Xbox 360.
Windows Media Center in Windows Vista (2006) (codenamed 'Diamond'): Generally available to the public on January 30, 2007.
Media Center PC Case
The first hardware that you need to consider is the casing. Technically, any type of casing is acceptable, but since we are building a media center here, looks are important as it must look presentable when placed in the living room. More importantly, the ventilation system used in the casing should not be too noisy--you don't want it to sound like a vacuum cleaner when you are playing DVD, do you?
Media PC cases have been on the market for some time now. We generally referred to them as desktop cases instead of home theater PC cases. The design of each is just about the same - it's the features that set an Media Center PC apart from a desktop case.
Some of these features include simple hardware such as a smaller power supply or smaller case fans. Many desktop cases are smaller than mid-tower chassis, so hardware with smaller footprints must be used. Other features, which carry functions of a media center PC such as an integrated text display and infrared receiver, are some of the things that make an Media Center PC just that, an Media Center PC.
TV Tuner Card
When choosing how you're going to use your Media Center PC for viewing television, you have to ask yourself a few questions: Do I have a single cable box? Or do I either have multiple cable boxes, or a cable box + sattelite box? Can I get over the air HDTV reception where I live?
First of all, you really need to get a TV Tuner card regardless of the answers to any of the above questions. The only real question is whether or not to get a card that has one tuner, or two.
If you have more than one source for regular TV (from question 1 above) then you only need a single TV Tuner. If you either have 2 sources, or are even considering getting a second cable box or second source, you should get a card that has 2 tuners in it.
HDTV card and your Media Center PC
When you connect a high-definition TV (HDTV) antenna to a Media Center PC that is equipped with an HDTV tuner card, you can experience: Digital-quality video with widescreen support: Watch local TV broadcasts in HDTV quality up to 10 times the quality of a standard TV signal. Connect your Media Center PC to your surround sound system
No home theater PC is complete without good audio.
Depending on your sound card, you may need to connect the Media Center PC to your speakers using either a single digital connection or a series of multichannel analog connections.

Ultimately, both types of connections result in surround sound audio from the DVD or HDTV media you are playing. The main difference between the two is where the decoding of the surround sound signal takes place.
When using a single digital connection, the sound card in the Media Center PC passes the surround sound signal directly to the receiver to decode the audio and play it through your speakers.
With a multichannel analog connection, the sound card decodes the surround sound signal, and then passes the decoded signal to the receiver. The receiver then outputs the sound to the appropriate speaker for the surround sound effect.
Silent CPU Cooling
Equally important is the CPU cooler. Ideally, you want a CPU cooler that's very quiet but does a good job of keeping the processor cool.
The manufacture fan that comes with the original CPU sounded like a vacuum cleaner when running in full-speed mode (controlled by the motherboard depending on the CPU workload) and the noise is unbearable if you sit near the computer. This is definitely not an ideal situation for your media center PC.
Quiet CPU coolers are designed with the use of highly heat conductive copper and a larger, efficiently designed, heatsink surface area to radiate heat far more effectively than standard heatsinks. Power Supply for Media Center
As the digital world infiltrates the living room, silent operation becomes the key. More and more people are investing and building home theater PCs.
The quality of the power being supplied to the components in your system is more important than most users realize. A poor quality power supply can cause many problems and in some cases can even destroy system hardware. A PSU (Power Supply Unit) which under-volts either the 3.3, 5, or 12 volt lines can cause corruption of data, system locks, and program crashes. In more severe cases an over-volt can fry components.
Often one of the biggest noise maker in a PC, the Power Supply Unit delivers regulated DC voltages to various components. Computer PSUs are switching mode types, which provide relatively high efficiency at low cost. They utilize forced air cooling, usually an 80mm fan, and sometimes incorporate a second fan. The fan is the primary source of noise in a PSU. Coils in a PSU can buzz and hum, especially when pushed under high loads, but usually fan noise masks coil noise. Typically, the fan is rated for higher than the maximum airflow needed to keep the PSU cool.
The quietest PSUs feature either no fan at all or a fan that spins at low speed under most conditions. Keep in mind that components will tend to run a bit hotter than usual as a result of reduced airflow. This can be a concern if the normal ambient room temperature is high or if very hot components are used. The best fan-cooled models have low normal fan speed, and allow the fan to ramp up to full speed only when really necessary.

Remote Control
Integrating a Media PC into your living room means that you will need some way of controlling the computer from the couch. While it is possible to use a wireless mouse and keyboard these devices are usually intended for close range use from a hard surface like a table.
Many TV tuner/capture cards include remote controls for use with the applications included with the card, but to integrate Windows MCE into your living room you will need a certified Windows MCE remote control.
Wireless Keyboard
For most things that you need to do with your HTPC, using the Windows Media Remote control will suffice. However, there are a few activities which are much more convenient when using a keyboard.
You need a wireless keyboard (preferably RF instead of IR so that you don't have a line-of-sight IR transmission restriction) that has an integrated mouse. Why? So that you can sit on the couch and type away. You'll really appreciate a decent keyboard when you're trying to correct the spelling of a CD Artist, or labeling a folder where you're downloading all of those pictures you took on your last vacation from your memory card into the PC.

Hi i just got the Alienware Aurora desktop and i need some info on the Liquid-Cooling system that came with it i cant seem to find much info on it online or from dell call someone please tell me how often you have to add liquid to it is it just water or do i need to buy something to add with the water if someone can help me please let me know thanks
Okay, First Congratulations on the Alienware. I've been looking at the Area 51 and so far I like the Specs. Second its not water cooled. Its liquid cooled. As far as that goes the unit comes with the liquid similar to antifreeze in a car. Eventually after years and years and I mean a long time it will run out if you ever keep it that long. When it runs out Contact Dell/Alienware and they will send you a bottle of the liquid with a few details on how to add it in the tower. If you don't feel comfortable doing on your own tell them to send a technician out to your residence and they will probably charge you but will get you up and running again. In my opinion by the time the liquid starts to diminish in quality and in amount you will probably want another computer since the specs will be outdated by that time.
